Project Overview

Siemens Energy, serving as the general contractor for the project, selected Acrel as its protection equipment supplier after a rigorous technical evaluation process. The project involved upgrading the power distribution system at a fiber optic manufacturing facility in Indonesia, requiring both low-voltage and medium-voltage protection solutions tailored to specific site conditions.
The initial inquiry came in October 2025 when Siemens Energy sought overcurrent protection relays (50/51) compatible with a 110V AC auxiliary power supply — a critical specification for the facility's existing infrastructure.

Phase 1: Low-Voltage Protection System
For the low-voltage 400V distribution system, Acrel proposed its ALP220 overcurrent protection relay as the core solution, complemented by protective current transformers (CTs) and residual current transformers. The ALP220 was selected for its reliable 50/51 overcurrent protection functionality and full compatibility with the project's 110V AC auxiliary power requirement.

Following successful technical verification by Siemens Energy's engineering team, the first purchase order for ALP220 units was confirmed in November 2025. The order was subsequently expanded to include 300 additional protective current transformers, demonstrating the client's growing confidence in Acrel's product quality and delivery capability.
Phase 2: Medium-Voltage System Expansion
Building on the success of the low-voltage phase, Siemens Energy extended the partnership to cover the project's medium-voltage distribution system in early 2026. Acrel provided a tailored solution featuring:
· AM5SE-M — Motor protection relay for critical motor applications
· AM5SE-F — Feeder protection relay for distribution feeders
· ARTM-8L — Temperature monitoring device supporting 8-channel PT100 RTD sensors
· AKH-L series — Medium-voltage current transformers

The Acrel technical team worked closely with Siemens Energy engineers to address specific integration challenges, including zero-sequence CT range matching and RTD temperature sensor integration. Through collaborative problem-solving, the team delivered a fully optimized medium-voltage protection scheme.
